Advanced Hard Metal Magnetometer for Coercive ForceCemented Carbides are sophisticated composite materials, expertly crafted by blending tungsten carbide (WC) with a binder metal, predominantly cobalt. The infusion of Co imparts exceptional hardness and admirable toughness to the final alloy. Typically, the Co content in the alloy ranges between 3 to 30%. Assessing the magnetic properties of Cemented Carbides yields invaluable insights into the metallurgical process: the Magnetic Moment directly indicates the quantity of Co unalloyed in the non-magnetic phase. With the 9700, one can now thoroughly evaluate the quality of the metallurgical bond and detect the presence of any undesirable phases. The coercivity Hcj data offers crucial insights into the grain size: a higher Hcj reading signifies a finer grain size, reflective of superior quality.

The measuring coil is ingeniously equipped with an embedded sensor and a slot for a Hall probe, ensuring precise sample placement. Samples are nestled securely in the sample holder and then inserted seamlessly into the measuring coil. The sample holder boasts the following dimensions:

  1. HC Poles.
The pole head of the electromagnet, identified as DCT-140, features an initial size of 140mm, elegantly tapered to 100mm, and accommodates a maximum pole spacing of 45mm. With a pole spacing of 25 mm, the magnetic field intensity can impressively reach 1T.
  1. Excitation power
The excitation power supply is intricately connected to the electromagnet, expertly controlling the output voltage to generate the precise magnetic field required for meticulous measurement. Operating on a 220 V 50/60 Hz supply, the device offers an output voltage range of 5-95V, with a power stability of 0.05%. It is designed to perform optimally in environments of 0-40 C and 40-80% RH, featuring built-in overcurrent and overvoltage protection. In the event of overvoltage or overcurrent, the power supply ceases operation, an indicator light illuminates, and an audible 'diddi' sound alerts. By pressing the designated button, the alarm is silenced, and the power supply resumes normal operation. For peak performance, periodic control and calibration using reference standards are recommended.
